I have been a resident of the East Bay for over 14 years and a resident of San Lorenzo
for over 8. My husband and I bought our first home here in the Village and I care
very much about the community and environment in which we will raise our baby daughter.
I have worked in the local community for over 12 years at a family tax and financial
planning firm. I am a member of the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce as well as a
current board member of San Leandro Le Tip. In the past decade I have had an active
role in many volunteer organizations. I have served on the board of Operation: MOM,
a non profit military family support group, as Treasurer, as the Northern California
Coordinator for Small Paws Rescue, as well as a long standing volunteer commitment
to SDES Alvarado in Union City. I have also done numerous fundraising events for
the Davis Street Resource Center and am currently co-chairing a holiday food and
wish list drive for Building Futures for Women and Children.

I take great pride in the community in which I live and will strive to do my best
to encourage more community involvement and take steps to insure a safer and more
secure neighborhood for our children to grow up. I am passionate about preserving
what makes San Lorenzo unique but also passionate about ushering in new vitality
to our area. I wish for San Lorenzo to look to the casual observer like it does
to those who live and love this area.

I have lived in San Lorenzo, and worked in the area, most of my life. Graduated
from Arroyo High School in 1968 and drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970, honorably
discharged in 1972 and went to school on the GI Bill. I married my wife Jeanne Cheschi,
who also grew up in San Lorenzo. We have raised two children in San Lorenzo. I volunteered
for 5 years as a San Lorenzo soccer coach and for 13 years as a San Lorenzo Bobby
Sox Coach. I have also worked for the Hayward Boys’ club. I have worked for 26 years
for the East Bay Municipal Utility District, and retired in 2005. I served as Vice
President of Local Union 444 and as Vice President for the City of Hayward Local
Union 390. I have served for 2 years on the San Lorenzo School District’s Strategic
Planning Commission. I have also served as a member of the Alameda County Grand
Jury from 2006-2007.
We, the citizens of San Lorenzo, need to be “listened to” and “heard,” and to have
our voices “echoed” to all the outside agencies, agencies that think they know what
is best for San Lorenzo and are currently making important decisions on San Lorenzo’s
behalf. With crime on the rise, we need neighborhood involvement and we need to
create more “neighborhood watch” groups to deter would-be criminals. In my own neighborhood,
I organized a successful neighborhood watch group that continues, even today, to
keep my street safe.

I have lived in Alameda County all my life and have lived in the San Lorenzo Community
for the past 18 years. I have been employed with the Alameda County since 1980.
My husband and I, of nearly 25 years, both work as public servants, and are dedicated
to protecting the public’s health, safety and environment. We have two children,
whom we raised in San Lorenzo.
My family and I are members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and I am active
in the Confirmation/Youth Group, Eucharistic Ministry and have helped with Congregations
Organizing for Renewal (COR).
It’s time to take back our neighborhoods and I want to be involved in helping to
improve our neighborhoods.

Working with the other members of the Board, I will strive to further improve our
neighborhoods. With your help we can better preserve the unique character of San
Lorenzo. I encourage you to get involved. The more people care about where they
live, the higher the quality of life we will have.

I was born in San Lorenzo in 1951. I lived here and attended school (St John’s)
here until 1962, when my family moved to Oakland. I attended schools in Oakland
and then graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in
Criminology. After graduation, I joined the United States Marine Corps and served
6 years. I resigned my commission in 1978 after attaining the rank of captain. I
was fortunate to spend a tour of duty in southeast Asia and Japan where I developed
an interest in Asian art and architecture. After leaving the Marine Corps, I lived
in southern California and worked for the San Diego Police Department and the US
Treasury Department.
In 1982, I returned to San Lorenzo and bought my current house. I have lived in
San Lorenzo since. During that time I worked for the Hayward Police Department and
retired from police work having attained the rank of sergeant. I was an active member
of the Hayward Police Officer’s Association (HPOA) and was a member of the board
of directors of the HPOA, holding the positions of both Treasurer and President.
Currently, I feel San Lorenzo has 2 major inter-related needs: (1) more community
involvement in addressing the needs of the community and (2) continued community
involvement in the proposals and development of the redevelopment plans that are
currently under consideration for the community. Community involvement in the development
of our community is essential.
I can frequently be seen having coffee in the morning at Frodo’s and lunch at Papa
Pancho’s or Classic Burger. I shop at Lucky’s and bank in our neighborhood banks.
I welcome you to contact me whenever you see me to discuss concerns you may have
about the community.
As a long time resident of San Lorenzo and a retiree (although I have a part time/seasonal
job) I have both the desire to see our community remain safe, prosperous and a desirous
place to live and I have the time to help see that come true.

I bought my home in San Lorenzo, September 1995 and became a member of the San Lorenzo
Homes Association. I have been a public servant for over 30 years. My career started
when I joined the US Army in 1978. I worked in the medical field as a Psychiatric
Technician and Drug/ETOH Counselor and received an Honorable Discharge in 1983.
I continued my career as an active duty reservist and civil servant working in the
Finance Department at the 91st MTC in Dublin California until 1987. In 1987, I started
working for Chabot Las Positas Community College District as a Counselor Assistant
in the EOPS/CARE department. Through my years at the Colleges, I worked in varies
departments within students services including special programs, financial aid,
general counseling, office of student life and student employment. In 1998 I was
elected Chapter President for SEIU Local 790 Chabot Las Positas Chapter and held
the office until 2005. I retired from the District in April 2009.
I see the Homes Association as a place to help advocate for our community. The past
Board members have maintained the property values in our area. They opened doors
to various committees, boards and commissions representing the San Lorenzo Home
owners. Our current board members are working hard to maintain the integrity of
our community and build community involvement. They encourage participation, sharing
of ideas, open lines of communication and they welcome new faces to Board meetings,
committees and all of the activities that they are developing within our community.
I became interested in running for the Board because of their enthusiasm and commitment
to the overall best interest of our community. The demographics for San Lorenzo
has changed in a variety of ways. The economy has impacted our families, our friends,
our neighbors pushing people out of work, out of their homes and into situations
that have caused a number of hardships. The key includes good lines of communication,
the desire to be involved and the motivation of helping each other through these
times. As one door closes, another opens. We, the San Lorenzo Community are a wealth
of experience, knowledge and compassion. I see the Homes Association as a tool which
helps bring us together in order to support each other. My hope is to be an active
advocate along side our current team of leadership and represent the desires of
our community. Thank you for this opportunity.
